Product
What exactly is Affiliate Factory WP?
A WordPress plugin that runs a complete affiliate program on your own website: partner applications and approval, first-party referral tracking, coupon attribution, commission calculation, fraud review, payouts, reporting, and a branded dashboard for your affiliates. It is self-hosted software — it runs on your server, with your data, under your control. It is not a SaaS platform and there are no per-referral or transaction fees.
Do all plans really include every feature?
Yes. Personal, Professional, and Agency ship the identical plugin with the identical feature set. Plans differ only in how many sites the license activates on and the support tier. If we ever changed that, it would apply to new purchases only and be announced clearly.
Does it work without WooCommerce?
Visit tracking, the affiliate application flow, the affiliate dashboard, and lead referrals from form plugins work on any WordPress site. Order-based commissions, coupon attribution, and payout balances come from your e-commerce or membership plugin — WooCommerce is the deepest integration, and 15+ others are supported.
How does tracking work, and is it GDPR-friendly?
Tracking is first-party only: a signed cookie set by your own site. IP addresses are truncated and hashed before storage (raw IPs are never stored), retention windows are configurable, tracking can be gated behind a consent cookie or a developer filter, and the plugin integrates with WordPress’ personal-data export and erase tools. No data is sent to us or any third party.
How are commissions calculated?
In integer minor units (cents), never floating point, so totals always add up. Rates can be percentage or flat, global or per-affiliate, and every referral stores a human-readable explanation of how its amount was computed. A configurable maturity window keeps commissions reversible until the refund period passes.
What does the fraud review actually do?
Incoming referrals are scored against explainable signals — self-referral indicators, rapid-fire click patterns, blocked email domains, duplicate orders. Suspicious referrals are held for your review with the reasons written in plain language. Nothing is silently rejected, and you always make the final call.
Can I migrate from another affiliate plugin?
Yes — a CSV importer plus a one-click migration tool that appears automatically when another affiliate plugin’s data is detected in your database. Affiliates, referral history, and coupon assignments move over; we recommend running the migration on a staging copy first (see the testing question below).
Licensing & activation
How do license activations work?
After purchase you receive a license key (like
AFWP-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). Enter it under Affiliates → License in WordPress and it activates for that site. Personal activates 1 site, Professional 5, Agency unlimited. You can see and manage every activation from your account page.Do staging or development sites count against my limit?
A staging site only needs an activation if you want it to receive updates independently. Most customers activate production sites only and copy the plugin to staging as part of their normal site clone — that works fine, since the plugin never locks its features. If you prefer licensed staging sites, the Professional plan’s 5 slots are usually plenty.
Can I move a license between sites?
Anytime, instantly, yourself: deactivate from the old site’s License screen (or remotely from your account page if the old site is gone), then activate on the new one.
What happens when my license expires?
Your affiliate program keeps running — the plugin never disables itself, and your data stays yours. An expired license pauses updates and support until you renew. WordPress will still show that a newer version exists, with a note explaining that renewal is required to install it.
What happens if I upgrade or downgrade a plan?
Upgrades apply immediately — contact us and we bill the difference and raise your activation limit on the same key. Downgrades take effect at renewal. If you have more active sites than the new plan allows, existing activations keep working but new activations are blocked until you free slots.
Is the code encrypted or locked?
No. The plugin is GPL-2.0-or-later licensed, unobfuscated PHP you can read and audit. The license key gates our services — the update server and support — not the software on your machine.
Billing & refunds
Is this a subscription?
It is an annual license: one year of updates and support per purchase. Renewal is your choice each year — we do not silently auto-charge a stored card.
What is the refund policy?
14 days, no questions asked. If the plugin is not a fit, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Full terms in the Terms & Conditions.
Do you charge VAT / sales tax?
Prices are listed exclusive of taxes. Where we are required to collect VAT or sales tax for your country, it is calculated and shown at checkout before you confirm. Enter your VAT/tax ID at checkout for reverse-charge treatment where applicable.
Can I use a promo code?
Yes — there is a promo code field at checkout. Discounts apply to the first year unless the specific promotion says otherwise.
Do you offer invoices?
Every order includes an order summary with your billing details, and we can issue a formal invoice on request — include your company name, address, and tax ID at checkout or email support with your order ID.
Technical, compatibility & safe deployment
What are the requirements?
WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 8.0 or newer. Multisite is supported. WooCommerce (or another supported e-commerce/membership plugin) is needed for order-based commissions.
Should I test on staging before going live? (Yes.)
Yes — and this is a condition of use, not just advice. As with any software that touches orders and money, you are responsible for testing the plugin (and every update) on a development or staging copy of your site before activating it on a live/production website, and for keeping complete backups. Most hosts offer one-click staging. Our documentation covers a safe rollout, and the live demo lets you evaluate everything before touching your own site at all. See the Terms (“Your responsibilities”) for the formal version.
Will it slow my site down?
The tracking path is a signed first-party cookie and a single indexed database write per tracked visit — no external HTTP calls in the visitor’s path. Admin screens load their own assets only on plugin pages. On a typical store the overhead is not measurable.
Does it conflict with caching or security plugins?
Tracking works with full-page caching (the referral parameter is processed before cache and the cookie is set client-visible). Standard security plugins are fine. If your host strips query strings or blocks outgoing HTTPS, see the troubleshooting section in the docs.
How do updates arrive?
Through the normal WordPress update screens, from our own update server. Sites check twice a day; with an active license, updates install in one click and include the changelog. We recommend applying updates on staging first — same rule as any plugin that handles money.
What data leaves my site?
Only license operations: when you activate, deactivate, or when the site checks for updates, your site sends the license key, the site URL, and version numbers (plugin, WordPress, PHP) to our license server. No visitor data, no affiliate data, no order data — ever.
Demo & evaluation
Can I try it before buying?
Yes, two ways. The live demo is a real WordPress site with the plugin installed and sample data — you get admin access, no signup required. And every purchase is covered by the 14-day money-back guarantee, so a real trial on your own staging site is risk-free too.
Is the demo the full product?
It is the real plugin, current version, every feature. A few operations are disabled for everyone’s safety (sending real emails or payouts, installing other plugins), and the environment resets itself every hour, so feel free to click everything.
Can my whole team look at the demo?
Yes — share the link. Everyone shares the same sandbox and it resets hourly, so don’t leave anything in there you want to keep.
Legal & data
Who owns my affiliate data?
You do, entirely. It lives in your WordPress database on your server. We never see it, and the plugin includes CSV exports plus WordPress personal-data tools for your own compliance needs.
What license is the code under?
GPL-2.0-or-later, like WordPress itself. Your purchase buys the license key services — updates and support — and supports development.
Where are the formal terms?
Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Short version: annual license, 14-day refunds, test on staging first, your data stays yours.
Still unsure? Try it without touching your site.
