Getting started
Install the plugin, activate your license, and understand updates — from zip file to a working Affiliates menu in ten minutes.
Requirements
WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 8.0 or newer. WooCommerce is required for order-based commissions, coupon attribution, and payout balances; visit tracking, affiliate applications, and lead referrals from form plugins work without it.
Per our Terms, always install and test on a staging or development site first — every serious store change deserves that, and your license includes activations for it (staging sites don't consume a production slot in spirit: deactivate the staging copy when you're done, or use a Professional/Agency plan with room to spare).
Install the plugin
- Download the plugin zip from your account page (also linked on your order confirmation).
- In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate.
A new Affiliates menu appears in the sidebar — that's the whole plugin, every screen lives under it: Dashboard, Affiliates, Referrals, Coupons, Payouts, Emails, Tools, Logs, License, and Settings.
Activate your license
- Open Affiliates → License.
- Paste your key — it looks like
AFWP-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. - Click Activate license.
The screen shows your plan, expiry date, and how many site slots are in use. Activation unlocks one-click updates and support. Your key is stored encrypted, and the plugin keeps working even without an active license — you just stop receiving updates.
Site limits by plan: Personal activates on 1 site, Professional on 5, Agency on unlimited.
Automatic updates
With an active license, new versions appear in Dashboard → Updates and on the Plugins screen like any other plugin — one click installs them. The plugin checks for updates twice a day; the Re-check button on the License screen forces a check immediately.
If the license is expired or missing, the update row explains exactly what to fix instead of failing silently. Your site keeps running either way.
Move a license to another site
- On the old site: Affiliates → License → Deactivate — this frees the slot.
- On the new site: install the plugin and activate the same key.
Old site dead and you can't log in? Deactivate it remotely from your account page.
Where to next
The setup checklist walks you from a fresh install to your first affiliate. If you're migrating from another affiliate plugin, read import & migration first — your history can come with you.
